Dominique D’Vita Interview

Photography by Surgeon Studios. MUAH: Xanthia Pink.

This interview/pictorial was feature in issue #14.

Sinical Magazine: When were you born and where? Where are you currently located?

Dominique DVita: I was born on Halloween in Austin, Texas and live in Los Angeles, CA

Sinical Magazine: How did you get started in modeling?

Dominique DVita: Initially, I decided to do a Pin Up/ Boudoir photography shoot for Valentines Day. More details in answer below.

Sinical Magazine: What was the first magazine you came across that made you want to become a model? If not a magazine, what inspired you?

Dominique DVita: I was inspired by the Pin Up art by Olivia of Bettie Page. I am a nurse and when I saw the painting of Bettie as a nurse, I noticed how similar we look. A few years later, people would frequently come up and tell me that I looked like Bettie Page. One day I decided, just for fun, to have a Pin Up style photo shoot. I had no intention of modeling and was still living in Texas. Well, one shoot led to another.

Sinical Magazine: What do you think makes a model stand out from others?

Dominique DVita: A models artistic expression, personal style and confidence. Also, the ability to connect with the camera so the viewer feels they “know” you and to stir emotion within them.

Sinical Magazine: From a model’s perspective, what do you think is the most important aspect of a photo?

Dominique DVita: I believe it is important to work with talented photographers. A model can have a great concept/wardrobe/poses, etc., however the photographer must capture this and be knowledgeable of proper angles and use of light. A friend of mine has followed my modeling career and said he never realized how great of an impact the photographer has. Stating that he could see the quality of my photos improve as I worked with more talented photographers. It is definitely a team effort (model, photographer, make-up artist/hair, stylist, wardrobe). Most importantly, the model must feel safe and comfortable with the photographer she is working with.

Sinical Magazine: Clothing wise, what are your fetishes and why?

Dominique DVita: I love latex, stockings, high heels and lingerie.

Sinical Magazine: When did you first realize you were into kink?

Dominique D’Vita: I am a Registered Nurse and realized the parallel between the role of a Nurse and a Dominatrix. I always say “I only hurt you to make you better.”

Sinical Magazine: How did you get started in a career in professional Domination?

Dominique D’Vita: I had a curiosity about Domination for years. Consequently, I chose my “modeling name” to be Dominique. Initially, I began with Pin Up Modeling and that of course led to fetish modeling (thank you again Bettie Page.) During a latex shoot with Domina Angelina, I expressed my interest and she agreed to Mentor me. She has been a Pro Domme for over 20 years and shared her knowledge with me. (www.DominaAngelina.com) Coincidentally, that shoot was also photographed by Surgeon Studios.

Sinical Magazine: How did you become a dominant?

Dominique D’Vita: I am naturally dominant. As a child, I was mischievous, often stubborn and strong willed. In addition, I am a Scorpio (need I say more?) In my sex life, I haven’t used whips to control men. However, early on I used my feminine powers and sexual skills to exert control. (“whipped” lol, Sensual Domination).

Sinical Magazine: What are the types of Domination services you offer?

Dominique D’Vita: I enjoy Corporal Discipline, Sissy Training, Humiliation, Bondage and much more. A list of my Services can be found on my website: www.NurseDVita.com. I also have beautiful feet and foot fetishists love to worship my feet.

Sinical Magazine: What is your specialty?

Dominique D’Vita: My specialty is Medical Fetish since I am also a Registered Nurse and am quite skilled and knowledgeable in all things medical. During the session, it is strictly fantasy play and I am not functioning under my nursing license. However, I always have my knowledge and skills and know how to use them.

Sinical Magazine: What do you try and achieve in a first time session with a slave?

Dominique D’Vita: Prior to an initial session, I have the slave/submissive complete an application on my website (www.NurseDVita.com) The information gained through that process allows me to plan a session that suits both of our limits safely. Initially, I gain their trust and a first session is also a “getting to know you” process. I am analyzing them and learning about what makes them “tick” (weaknesses, fears, fantasies, limits). Thus allowing subsequent sessions to become more intense and satisfying.

Sinical Magazine: What are some things you like to make a new slave try?

Dominique D’Vita: I enjoy testing their pain threshold & limits. I respect their limits, however enjoy pushing them there and seeing if they are open to pushing further. I respect their safe-word and will respectfully stop once that is uttered. However, deep down humans want to see how far they can go. The depths we push ourselves makes life more interesting and fulfilling.

Sinical Magazine: Is S&M a form of psychotherapy?

Dominique D’Vita: Subconsciously, humans create pain in their lives. Often repeating “bad choices” in their personal lives. I believe you can choose your pain “subconsciously” or “consciously”. Those who claim to have zero interest in BDSM, often torture themselves by whom they choose to date, bad habits, etc. Frequently, forming dysfunctional relationships that bring them considerable pain. BDSM allows you to “consciously” experience pain and you are free to walk away after a session of “pain therapy.” Obviously, this is my hypothesis and something I’m continually studying/exploring. My goal is to offer people a therapeutic outlet to the stresses of daily life. Also, to reassure them that their fetishes do not make them “weird.” I believe society is weird to expect people to conform and I am an advocate for self-exploration.

Sinical Magazine: What is your favorite piece of BDSM equipment or favorite device?

Dominique D’Vita: My favorite piece of equipment is a Medical Exam Table...of course. I also enjoy cages, chastity devices and floggers.

Sinical Magazine: What type of music do you listen to?

Dominique DVita: I have an eclectic musical pallette . I like 80s, Pop, Rap, Trip Hop, Dance, Rock and Roll.. A few of my favorite artists are Nina Simone, Kanye West, 2 Chainz, Willie Nelson, Led Zeplin, Portishead, Lana Del Rey, Massive Attack, Sia, Rihanna, James Blake, Bjork, ZZ Top, Madonna, Sade. I love having Spotify on my phone and all of my favorite music is at my fingertips.

Sinical Magazine: What’s up next for you?

Dominique DVita: I am quite busy trying to juggle my varied interests. I am also a full time Registered Nurse and that career can be quite demanding. In addition, I am a Pro Domme and Burlesque Performer. I am hoping to start performing more Burlesque in the near future. |
