Belinda Bärtzner -

Sinical Magazine: When were you born and where? Where are you currently located?

Roswell Ivory: I was born on August 26th in the Scottish Highlands. For the past two years, I travelled the world with no home at all but now live on a canal boat just outside of London.

Sinical Magazine: What was the first magazine that you came across that made you want to become a model? If not a magazine, what inspired you?

Roswell Ivory: I never imagined myself as a model (in fact, I was bullied for being ‘ugly’ for so long that I desperately wanted surgery until my late teens). When I began modelling, I quickly discovered Skin Two and Marquis and promised myself I’d one day appear in both.

Sinical Magazine: How did you get started in alternative/fetish modelling?

Roswell Ivory: I was at a festival and a talent scout asked if I was interested in modelling. I began in the goth and alt genres but was soon asked to walk in a Libidex fashion show for London Fetish Weekend. I fell in love with latex then and there, and still love to work with Libidex- they make fantastic catsuits!

Sinical Magazine: What do you think makes a model stand apart from others?

Roswell Ivory: A strong look! It’s hard to stand out with so many beautiful women around but the best models I have seen are recognizable even from thumbnail images. Also, a good penetrating stare can connect you with the viewer- it‘s one of my trademarks! Having the right attitude and a smile for everyone (even when you’re not feeling it) makes someone memorable for the right reasons too.

Sinical Magazine: From a model’s perspective, what do you think is the most important aspect of a photo?

Roswell Ivory: I don’t think there is just one- all good photos have a hardworking team behind them but as far as a model’s role goes, posing and expression have to look real. Whether the look is sexy and powerful or soft and sensual; if you aren’t committed. It will show in your eyes.

Sinical Magazine: What has been the most interesting thing to happen during one of your photo shoots?

Roswell Ivory: I often work nude or latex-clad outdoors so most of my working days are interesting by themselves, but posing nude at 2am against the Houses of Parliament while a crowded night bus drove past definitely makes the list!
More recently, I was shooting a magazine cover outside a theatre and wearing a latex Rocky Horror-esque outfit, when about thirty faces covered in circus make-up peered out. A dress rehearsal was going on and instead of being thrown off the premises, we all did an impromptu ‘timewarp’ in the street!

Sinical Magazine: Clothing wise, what are your fetishes and why?

Roswell Ivory: Anything that makes me look as strong as I feel! I usually look like an apocalypse survivor/road warrior in harnesses, head-to-toe leather and enormous boots but if I’m feeling especially feminine, I like red lipstick, towering stilettos and either femme fatale lingerie or a shiny black latex catsuit.

Sinical Magazine: What are your measurements?

Roswell Ivory: 36-25-36.

Sinical Magazine: What is your shoe size?

Roswell Ivory: UK6.

Sinical Magazine: What type of music do you listen to?

Roswell Ivory: I have very eclectic tastes! Mostly old rock like AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, Guns ’n’ Roses, etc. But I love dancing to bleepy EBM and techno, and as I’m a 90’s girl I have a soft spot for truly awful Europop.

Sinical Magazine: What are some of your favorite books and who are some of your favorite authors? And what are you currently reading?

Roswell Ivory: I’m currently writing a crime novel so am reading through a fascinating stack of criminal profiling books. (‘Mindhunter’, by John Douglas at the moment- he was the inspiration for the character Jack Crawford in The Silence of the Lambs!) I also love fantasy and science fiction- Sara Douglass, Charles De Lint, Robin Hobb and Michael Crichton are brilliant, and I’m a huge J.R. Tolkien fan too (but mention ‘The Hobbit’ films to induce a rant from me of biblical proportions.)

Sinical Magazine: Besides modelling, what do you like to do for fun?

Roswell Ivory: I love to travel- which is good as I model away from home for at least a quarter of the year! I try to take a day or two to explore wherever I am, so I meet some interesting people and visit places I’d never see otherwise. I paint and draw, I’m a training contortionist so do a lot of yoga and bending practise and I’m currently working on decorating my boat so I can shoot onboard! As I also write and regularly publish articles and fiction, I’m taking part in the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) challenge this November. Participants pledge to write 50,000 words in 30 days so wish me luck!

Sinical Magazine: Do you have any other upcoming projects you would like to mention?

Roswell Ivory: Absolutely! Some things are still secret but I’m currently nominated for the titles of “Miss Fetish Europe” and “Fetish Model of the Year 2015” which I’m very excited about! My steampunk mystery story “The Marius Conundrum” will be published next summer and I will also be making my debut stage show in Europe- 2015 is going to be an exciting year.

I post updates, behind-the-scenes pictures and all of my news on my blog at so come and visit me! |
