Sinical Magazine: When were you born and where? Where are you curently located?

Romanie Smith: I was born on the 1st of December in 1994. I was born in Colchester, Essex. I lived in Canary Wharf for a short while last year which I loved, but have returned to my home town Halstead which is about an hour from London and 20 minutes from Stansted Airport which is convenient for travelling.

Sinical Magazine: What was the first magazine that you came across that made you want to become a model? If not a magazine, what inspired you?

Romanie Smith: I didn’t intend to become a model at all, I was approached by a local photographer named Dan Tidswell. He invited me to come and test with him. That was just over a year ago and it’s been a whirlwind ever since.

Sinical Mahazine: Who are some models/or actresses that have inspired you?

Romanie Smith: I’d never really thought about it until I started modelling. I love all the old blonde bombshells, such as Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Mamie Van Doren, and even the more modern icons like Gwen Stefani and Madonna. They have a look I’ve always admired.

Sinical Magazine: How does the city of London inspire you?

Romanie Smith: I love London. It’s a very diverse city renowned for it’s talent. It’s consistently exciting and edgy. It embraces all things new and a huge spectrum of people and personalities in one place. London has so much inspiration to offer. The city is full of energy and alternative people from all over the world who are so accepting of creativity. It’s never restricted by a single way of thinking.

Sinical Magazine: Where are some places you’ve visited for shoots? Which place did you like the most?

Romanie Smith: I’ve travelled around most of Europe and I’m in the process of planning my first trip to the USA and the Middle East which I’m really excited about. So far I guess my favourite place has to be the South of France as I’ve made so many good friends there.

Sinical Magazine: What has been the most interesting thing to happen during one of your photo shoots?

Romanie Smith: I’d say that probably the most interesting shoot took place in the South of France. I was working with the wonderfully talented Nath Sakura and we were shooting the Halloween collection for a designer called Patrice Catanzaro. We went to a very famous haunted house region in the South of France to shoot the images, but when we got there and set up, we started having trouble with the equipment. We managed to take a few images, then none of the lights or generators would work. After trying to make things work for quite some time, we ended up having to come back to studio to work and surprisingly all of the equipment worked immediately! We found an alternative location the next day.

Sinical Magazine: Do you prefer to shoot indoors or outdoors?

Romanie Smith: Indoors, I get cold very quickly! Unless of course, it’s in a warm climate, but this hasn’t happened for me yet! When I first started modelling, I was booked for a location shoot and had to wear a crop top and pair of hotpants. IN THE SNOW! Just no!

Sinical Magazine: The theme of this issue is nylons. What is the appeal of nylons to you?

Romanie Smith: There is nothing sexier than wearing nylons. I think the appeal is the same as unwrapping a present. When you’ve seen one naked body you’ve seen them all, but it’s like getting a birthday present all wrapped up in paper and ribbons. There’s as much excitement in unwrapping the present as there is with the present itself. They are sexy because they only show a bit of flesh, not everything. Also men are suckers for them.

Sinical Magazine: What are some of your favorite brands of nylons?

Romanie Smith: My favourite brands are What Katie Did, Gio Stockings and Secrets in Lace. They have a real vintage look about them and all are wonderful quality. They are so sheer and have a sheen to them that other brands just don’t have. I wear a lot of nylons while shooting and always use one of these brands for a really quality and authentic look.

Sinical Magazine: What are some of your favorite books and who are some of your favorite authors? And what are you currently reading?

Romanie Smith: I’ve never been much of a reader until recently. I read mainly when I’m travelling. I’ve just read Before I go to Sleep by S.J. Watson which I really enjoyed and I’m really excited to see they are about to make this into a film starring Nicole Kidman. I also love Kendall Ryan, I’m currently reading the Filthy Beautiful Lies series. It’s awesome.

Sinical Magazine: What are your goals for 2015?

Romanie Smith: I really want to come to America and do a tour. I have some plans in motion. I’ll be there sooner rather than later, and I there are a whole host of photographers I’d like to work with. To be honest, plans seem to be made very quickly in this business. |
