Sinical Magazine: How did you get started in pin-up/fetish modeling?

Therése Rosier: Ever since the beginning of my career, I’ve modelled in an alternative style, which has always been very close to my heart - not only in the shooting, but in my personal life and styling as well. One step after another, it was bound to happen.

Sinical Magazine: The theme of this issue is nylons. What is the appeal of nylons to you?

Therése Rosier: I just adore nylons! I love the material itself and I really enjoy the feeling of nylons on my skin. It is a real passion of mine.

Sinical Magazine: What are some of your favorite books and who are some of your favorite authors? And what are you currently reading?

Therése Rosier: In fact, there’s but a few books that piqued my interest to the point where I actually finished reading it. There’s dozens upon dozens of books that I started reading, but never got to finish it. I just wasn’t really that impressed or interested. Basicaly, I prefer nonfiction - mostly about my favourite public figures - figures with a sick mind to be precise - such as serial killers and lunatics. But if you asked for my absolutely favourite book, that would have to be Tracy’s Tiger. I just love that story. I also like dark balads and short stories - namely the works of Edgar Allan Poe or Baudelaire. From the Czech artists, I definitely prefer Karel Jaromír Erben. At the moment, I’m reading several pieces, for instance “Psyche” - revue on mysticism and ocultism from the 40’s or “Path to Reconciliation” - a true story based on the life story of a Czech movie star from the 30’s.

Sinical Magazine: Besides modeling, what do you like to do for fun?

Therése Rosier: Like everyone else, I like spending my free time with friends and family. I enjoy going to the gigs and other events, which I also organize. Besides painting, which I am fully devoted to, I organize various art show openings, but also bigger events, containing fashion and burlesque shows, lectures and such. I am currently working with a dear friend of mine, Riwaa Nerona. She is a Czech top corset designer. We are working on a project called “La Femme”, which is a hobby for the both of us but it’s been gradually growing into a serious “thing” ever since our first event. I am also a time-to-time burlesque performer, but just for fun.

Sinical Magazine: Besides modeling, you are also an artist. When did you know you were an artist?

Therése Rosier: That’s hard to tell, really. Ever since my early childhood, I’ve been going to various classes and courses, I just really enjoyed everything that had something to do with arts. I didn’t really have any idea about my future back then and I actually didn’t have any great artistic ambitions, although I’ve always loved it. Now I’m a professional artist for several years but still I don’t really consider myself an artist. This is actually a much harder question than you might think! It will probably take a few more years before I fully realize it’s been happening for real - if that moment ever comes, that is. However, it brings me joy everytime someone reminds me of the truth with their kind words of appreciation - it’s only then I feel like a real artist.

Sinical Magazine: Who are some artists that have inspired your work?

Therése Rosier: My work is not directly inspired by any other artists. It’s inspired by many other aspects, but never someone else’s work, that is quite obvious when you look at the technique I use. Even so, I do have some favourite artists, such as Alfons Mucha, Gustav Klimt and Aubrey Berdsley from the Art Nouveau era and Zoe Lacchei, Eric Lacombe and my friend Striga from the contemporary artists. And I will always love looking at the works of Lenka Simeckova Illustration.

Sinical Magazine: What inspires your work?

Therése Rosier: That’s a lot of things, really. Mainly music, moods and emotions, real life events. I also get inspiration from books and photos.

Sinical Magazine: Can you talk about your painting technique?

Therése Rosier: It’s a combined technique of watercolors, ink and acrylic paint. I always start with a basic sketch, then I add a bit more details and then I create a watercolor undertone, using a wet basis. When I’m happy with the basic color scheme, I define the details and accentuate the shadows with ink, layer after layer and add a few finishing touches with white acrylic paint. Sometimes I also do large canvases - for those I prefer the combination of acrylic paints, oil paints and spray paints.

Sinical Magazine: What type of brushes and paints do you use when painting?

Therése Rosier: I use absolutely common brushes - round, flat, natural or synthetic materials, it depends, really. Regarding the paints, as I mentioned earlier, I use watercolors, acrylic paints, common ink, spray paints. I love using gold and silver metallic paints!

Sinical Magazine: Do you listen to music when you paint?

Therése Rosier: Of course, I cant’t work without it! My current favourites are artists such as Kasabian, Nine Inch Nails, Babyshambles/Libertines and some of the classics too - mainly Mozart. When I’m working, I also like listening to Lizzie Miles from the 30’s era. I like many various styles and genres and I love listening to different kinds of music!

Sinical Magazine: Where can people buy your art?

Therése Rosier: My official website is not working just yet but should any of your lovely readers want to check out or buy my artworks, I have a facebook page. I can also be contacted at my e-mail address: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Sinical Magazine: Do you have any upcoming galleries?

Therése Rosier: There’s an exhibition of my work going on right now and I am also organizing an art show with my friend, photographer Luna Torr. There will be another art show in December and for the future, I’m planning big things! Hopefully, I will be able to have a gallery and a coffee shop of my own, where people could come and see my stuff and have a nice cup of coffee. |
