Hannah Ghore is a San Antonio, Texas-based alternative model, artist, designer, MUA, and more.

Sinical Magazine: How did you get started in alternative modeling?

Hannah Ghore: I seem to have an overflow of creative outlets that need to be fulfilled and I just have to create art or I get really restless sometimes even depressed. Modeling, for me, is one of the many ways I do this. Be it for one of my concepts or someone else’s. For my concepts where I am the designer, MUA, hair dresser, and model I am constantly finding myself pushed to new limits of creativity to go above and beyond. It gets frustrating sometimes but the results are so worth it in the end.

Sinical Magazine: What are your measurements?

Hannah Ghore: Well I’m a 32b, 18w, 33h! Oh wait no those are the measurements I want to be. I’m a 32b, 25w, 33h, and I’m 5’7”.

Sinical Magazine: A lot of your photo sets seem inspired by horror films and Tim Burton movies? What are some of your favorite films or what films have influenced your work?

Hannah Ghore: Tim Burton is definitely someone I pull inspiration from. He knows how to create macabre works and yet make them still appealing to normal people too. I’ve pulled inspiration from his stop motions and just his normal art even. The shapes, shadows, stripes, and swirls are really aesthetically pleasing to my eyes so I try to pull from that but still make it my own. As far as horror goes I eat, breath, and sleep it. Every night the last thing I watch before going to bed is a horror movie which, causes me to have what most people would call nightmares but those same dark images are part of the spring of creativity in me. I’m still hoping to one day find a team who can help turn me into a Clive Barker Cenobite.

Sinical Magazine: Have you always been drawn to the macabre?

Hannah Ghore: I wouldn’t say always. I grew up in a really conservative house hold so all things spooky and macabre were strictly prohibited but I’ve always been a bit odd. One of my first memories as a child was telling my mother I wanted blue hair like a mermaid and I got in trouble for drawing “tattoos” on my skin all the time. I think the first time I really started falling for things of a darker nature was when I discovered Edgar Allen Poe as a preteen along with the beautifully macabre ideal of vampires. From there it just grew into an obsession.

Sinical Magazine: What is the most interesting thing that has happened to you as a model?

Hannah Ghore: Well I’ve only been modeling since March 2011 but so far the time that took the cake for “interesting” was when I, along with a few other models, modeled for my friends clothing line here in San Antonio. We were all dressed up in alternative styles with crazy colored hair walking around down town SA looking for locations to randomly shoot at. When we came to the Alamo there were some other tourists taking photos so we waited until they walked off to stat posing. Unfortunately the security guard was not fond of our attire and not only refused to let us take any photos on the grounds but also told us he would call the police if we didn’t leave. It’s not the first time I’ve been discriminated for being different but it was the first time I ever got kick off the premises for such a thing. It’s a sad judgmental world we live in but what doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger right?

Sinical Magazine: Who are some photographers and designers that you've worked with?

Hannah Ghore: I’ve been privileged to get the chance to work with some of Texas’s finest. To name a few of my favorites Jade Noir Photography, Stretch Photos, Obscuri, Eddie Hernandez, etc. As far as designers go I am currently looking to work with more but I’ve modeled for Jupiter Moon 3, Cruz Jewelry Designs, The Kat’s Meow, Azrael's Accomplice, and Batcave Designs. I also model some of my own designs for my alternative accessory business Crypt Keeper Creations.

Sinical Magazine: Clothing wise, what is your main fetish?

Hannah Ghore: I have a HUGE fetish for corsets, boots, and wigs if that last one counts. I only own one corset from Jupiter Moon 3 but I plan on buying a lot more and hopefully a full costume someday soon…or in my darkest fantasies at least. I’ve bought and own a few other corsets but her custom ones fit like a second skin. It makes you feel so sexy and who doesn’t want that?

Sinical Magazine: In your opinion, Who are the top 5 alt. models, currently?

Hannah Ghore: I’d have to go with my idols Razor Candi, Ophelia Overdose, Twigglet, Iska Ithil, and the mother of us all Elvira.

Sinical Magazine: And Who are the top 5. alt. photographers, currently?

Hannah Ghore: It’s really hard to pick just 5 quite honestly but here goes. Fairy-Tales-Photography from France, Dangerously Dolly, Le Mew Photography, Jade Noir Photography, and Laura Dark, etc.

Sinical Magazine: What type of music do you listen to?

Hannah Ghore: I listen to a variety of music depending on my mood or what I’m doing. I love and support the music scene whole heartedly. To name a few choice bands I listen to off the top of my head, Depeche Mode, Oingo Boingo, Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, The Misfits (Danzig-Graves era), Blitzkid, The Cruxshadows, Lady Gaga etc.

Sinical Magazine: Outside of modeling, what are some of your interests?

Hannah Ghore: Well I already stated my little side accessory business. I also paint and sculpt. Art is my main passion but I also enjoy playing with makeup and dressing up to go out dancing. When the music plays and I’m on the dance floor no one else is in my little world. It’s just me, the music, and my body thriving together as one being. Sounds a little strange but when I hear music I have a need to dance, unless it’s dubstep then I have a need to get as far away as possible!

Sinical Magazine: What is the alt/fetish scene like in San Antonio?

Hannah Ghore: I don’t really partake in the Fetish scene around here much so I suppose I have nothing to report for them. As for the alternative scene it’s pretty much like any other I’ve been around. You know drama, hookups, breakups, makeups, gossip, the norm. But I will say there are some really awesome people who try their best to make the environment fun for everyone (new and old) and choose to ignore the negative. I am happy to call San Antonio home for now and I pretty much always enjoy going out to events or shows and hanging out with the spooky locals.

Sinical Magazine: How can Sinical readers see more of your work?
