Lou 'la Massacre Interview

 lou1

Photographer: Simonra Henry. Wardrobe: Jenni Wong.

Lou 'la Massacre is a Vancouver-based alt. model. She will be one of the models featured in Sinical Magazine's Alt. Model Directory issue.

Sinical Magazine: How did you come up with the name Lou 'la Massacre?

Lou 'la Massacre: I always love answering this question! "Lou" was a nickname my father gave me from an early age and "Massacre" is my grandmothers maiden name... I added 'la'  to jazz it up a bit!

Sinical Magazine: How did you get started in alternative modeling?

Lou 'la Massacre: I grew up loving pin-up photography! Gil Elvegreen being my favorite artist in the genre. I always wanted to be one of those women. I then had the opportunity to meet Vancouver's Premiere Pin-up Photographer, Shimona Henry (Pin-up Perfection Photography), I set up a shoot with her, and was instantly hooked! After doing a lot of pin-up inspired work for a year or so I moved into a more "alternative" style where I felt I was able to really express myself as a model. Fetish/alternative photography really has no limits.

Sinical Magazine: How is the alt. model/pinup scene in Vancouver?

Lou 'la Massacre: The scene in Vancouver is amazing! There are so many talented photographers in Vancouver, and the ladies out here can really work it!

Sinical Magazine: In your opinion, who are some of the top models in the alt./pinup scenes?

Lou 'la Massacre: Some of my favorite alt/pin-up models are Raquel Reed, Mosh, Ophelia Overdose, and ElegyEllem and some of my favorite local Vancouver girls are Keronsene Deluxe, Chevvy Piston, and Danger Lynn.

Sinical Magazine: Who are some photographers or designers you would like to collaborate with?

Lou 'la Massacre: I have been very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with some great artists, but I'm very inspired by Viva Van Story, Andrea Hausmann, Julian M. Kilsby, Radiant Inc Photography and Roy Varga to name a few! I'm looking so forward to working with latex designer Abigail Greydanus and to continue collaborating with Jenni Wong (Deadly Couture), who locally designed the latex garments you see in my photo.

Sinical Magazine: What are some of your vices?

Lou 'la Massacre: I have so many, most of them being food and clothes. I have a serious addiction to pickles, any type of sour candy, but my major vice... is STRONG coffee!
