Sinical Magazine: Tell us a little about yourself.
Anita De Bauch: I model for fashion, fetish and artistic nude work all over the world. I’ve been in magazines like British Vogue, Penthouse and Skin Two, and wrote the book on how to model without an agency, called The “Ugly” Girl’s Guide to Modelling, which is available on Amazon. I live in the English countryside with my two Sphinx cats, Dexter and Lilith.
Sinical Magazine: What is your astrological sign? Do you think it suits you?
Anita De Bauch: I tend to read all the horoscopes and pick whichever one suits me most that day. Today it’s Cancer: “Smile at the world today, Cancer. Be thankful for the things you have and the people around you. Amplify the cozy, warm feeling inside and spread this love to others. This is a very expansive time for you in which you can get quite a bit accomplished if you set your mind to it. Radiate your true nature through every cell in your body and watch as the opportunities come your way.”
Sinical Magazine: Inquiring noses want to know what your signature scent is.
Anita De Bauch: My go-to is Christian Dior’s J’Adore. I buy the biggest bottles possible at the airport.
Sinical Magazine: Which fabric entices you most- leather, lace or latex?
Anita De Bauch: Lace is more convenient for daily wear, especially as lingerie like some of Playful Promises’ range, worn with a leather coat and bespoke Fabulously Fetish shoes. Latex is usually reserved for photo shoots and parties.
Sinical Magazine: Where is the most exotic place you have been?
Anita De Bauch: Probably a jungle in Malaysia, where I posed nude while watching wild monkeys playing in the trees above me, or the ancient temples of Cambodia, where the Tomb Raider movie was filmed.
Sinical Magazine: Name some things you never travel without. Why?
Anita De Bauch: I’m a real skincare snob and can’t leave the house without Bareskin Beauty lip balm and hand cream. I always wear sunglasses during the day- it’s a good way to skip doing eye makeup- Dior do some nice ones. I also have to have my diary and my phone in my bag at all times for work. You never know when someone is going to call to make a booking, especially when you are in the middle of a quiet lunch somewhere.
Sinical Magazine: Can you tell us some of the books on your nightstand?
Anita De Bauch: I usually have a few books on the go at once and dip into whichever one I’m in the mood for. At the moment I’m re-reading Hollywood Babylon and Valley of the Dolls- old favourites- and a book about indigenous British trees called Celtic Tree Mysteries. I keep a copy of my book, The “Ugly” Girl’s Guide to Modelling: No Agency? No Problem! on the nightstand too. I often re-read the ‘Up Your Game’ chapter in the section more intended for very experienced professional working models.
Sinical Magazine: Do you have a motto you live by?
Anita De Bauch: I smell lovely ‘cos I don’t eat meat. Drink too much bubbly, and I go pee-pee.
Sinical Magazine: What’s your vice?
Anita De Bauch: I enjoy a well-mixed cocktail or champagne with friends. I love Southeast Asian food and eat in restaurants every day when I’m shooting there for a few weeks, especially in Singapore and Tokyo. I spend too much time on Facebook [facebook.com/AnitaDeBauch] and Instagram [@anitadebauch].
Sinical Magazine: What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
Anita De Bauch: Being on the cover of Sinical is a great honour. I’m also really proud of the fashion films I’ve made with Marie Schuller, Head of Fashion Film at Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio in London, especially the Vivienne Westwood/ Dans La Vie fashion film Oyster, which is on the landing page at anitadebauch.com. I’m glad to have appeared in Penthouse and British Vogue magazines, and meeting Twiggy and Dita [Von Teese] were both big thrills.
Sinical Magazine: Where can we find you in the near future?
Anita De Bauch: Probably still messing about on Facebook and Instagram, or presenting on KFS TV. |
